Question:

What is the simplest (and inexpensive) DVD projector system?

I do not have a laptop computer, and would like to be able to show DVD movies on a large screen. I have heard of the Optoma DV11, which seems to be simple to operate ("just plug in, pop in a DVD, and project...").

Are there other alternatives to the Optoma that I should investigate? Again, I want to keep it as simple and inexpensive as possible!

Thank you to everyone for your helpful suggestions.

  1. Pass on the Optoma DV11 [all-in-one] since there's major heating concerns due to the closeness of the lamp to the DVD player.  And of course, should you want to mount the projector on the ceiling, the ceiling mount unfortunately, turns everything upside down and again, there's major heating of the motherboard.  A separate projector [not an all-in-one] is a better alternative.

Here's a real bargain, a refurbished Infocus SP4805 DLP projector which sells for $600 at amazon.com:

Here's a "92" diagonal image of a scene from "A Good Woman" which is shown on an Infocus SP4805.

    Good luck!
