  1. Look up Bob Lazar on the net. You will have to look for his business. He is currently developing a "kit" to make current tech engines to run on hydro. He says that he currently produces it in his yard directly from city water and drives on it now.Have patience looking for the exact site, I saw it once and can't fine it again for the link.I know it's there though.

  2. This might be a better solution, instead of producing and storing the hydrogen for later use.

you use the hydrogen as it is produced.

and you don't need the expensive hydrogen engines to operate iit.

  3. Hydrolysis is mostly used with metal salts and involves breaking down a chemical compound using water. I believe you are talking about electrolysis of water (the splitting of water in to it two components oxygen and hydrogen).

I wouldn't advise doing this it home. While 'quite' simple to carry out with the right equipment, hydrogen is difficult to store and is rather volatile. The best places for storage are in hot areas with low humidity but this might involve moving to a different country.

Obtaining hydrogen from water is one of the more inefficient methods, natural gas has a better yield but is also running out.

Don't forget the Hindenburg, a good example why it's not a good idea to have a whole pile of hydrogen kicking around.
