What is the size for kids age 5 and 7?

I need to go to the store and buy some clothes for children in need, can you tell what is the size to look for for age 5 and 7? thanks

Well, a average size 5 year old will probably wear a size 5. And a average size 7 year old will probably wear a size 7.

Sizes 5-8 is the usual for that age group.

That's impossible to say since clothing size depends on the child height and body frame.

usually they run the age they are. but if they are in need you never know they may be thinner. i would stick with size 5-7. get the pants that have the elastic they can adjust on the pants, some kids are taller or skinnier. i have a 6 year old he wears size 6-7 yet my 9 year old wears size 8 and thin. t shirts are ok because they can fit tighter or loose. good luck to you and what a sweet person you are. there are too many kids out there in need and only the ones that will help, or can help are there for them

they could wear anything between a 6, and a 10

It can really vary!  Are they boys or girls?

My daughters are those exact ages.  My 5 year old is IN a size 5 slim pants, and 4/5 shirts.

My 7 year old is in size 6 slim pants, and size 6/6x shirts.

BUT then you have my nephews... and I have a lot of them. :) LOL.

Two 5 year old boys...from different siblings of course.  

Gage is in 6 pants and 7 tops.

Dusty is in 4t pants still and 4t tops.

The 7 year old boy is in 8 tops and 7 pants.

Sorry to confuse you but it depends on how "average" they are.  Or lack there of too!  :)

Get sizes 5 and 7 just make sure the pants have adjustable waists, I love those pants. Give a gift receipt in case they don't fit and then they can return them if they are too short or something. Sonoma (kohls) stuff runs a little small, just to let you know
