  1. The website below has a neat way of working out how big a crater etc an impactor will cause:

  2. one to two inches

  3. how long is any given piece of string?? the crater from an asteroid striking the earths surface depends on the size of the asteroin itself. in non complicated terms...the bigger the rock, the bigger the hole.

  4. well, i don't know math... but the crater in Arizona, is a mile across. they say the meteor was about the size of a school bus.... does this help?

  5. Impact craters come in a variety of sizes dependent upon factors such as size of the impacting body, and the geological conditions at the impact site.  There's a handy list somewhere or other, or used to be one.  Hang ona mo...

Found it, the Earth impact database.  Sudbury in Canada boasts a 250km dating from getting on for 2 billion years ago and, from 290 million years ago, a fairly double hit at Clearwater West and East (26 and 36km).  If I remember correctly, which isn't necessarily so, Vredefort in South Africa has the largest  with a 300km diameter.

The link takes you to the index page, and you can then flick through the sublists for the continents, should you feel like it.
