  1. It is called a craterlet.

  2. It's called a gopher hole...

  3. Smallest diameter crater on mercury can not be visible in space photos. So it can not be nammed. There may be millions of them!

  4. Perhaps you are asking "What's the name of the smallest named crater on Mercury?"...if that's the question, here's a place to start looking.  The 2nd reference is under the usgs page/ maps and images...'more' /  Planetary Maps /  Mercury system 5M / then I chose "Borealis Region" just for kicks.

Mercury is not very well observed...no amateur telescopes that I'm aware of can see surface detail on Mercury, so I suspect that few if any other than major features are named.

  5. I did a search for Mercury's smallest crater and have so far not found it.  I did find that the largest crater, Caloris basin, has within in a formation called the Spider which consists of a smaller crater (about 40 KM) with about 50 radial "legs" coming out from it.  There was nothing to indicate that it was considered the smallest crater, though.  In fact, the picture shows many far smaller craters around it.  I doubt that we have found the smallest crater.

"The craters range in size from 100 meters (the smallest resolvable"  Although this was on the listing for the site, I couldn't find it on the site.  That is at solarviews.com/eng/mercury

  6. The smallest crater on Mercury has not been discovered.

  7. the smallest diameter crater may be inches across I'm sure it has no name

  8. It's called a crater, just like it would be on any other planet. If it were caused by a micrometeorite it might be called a micro-crater, but it would be so small for us to see. I am not sure what your asking.
