  1. Dwarf rabbits. But the smaller rabbits are the more chance they bite becuase they are scared

  2. The Netherland dwarf rabbit is the smallest but they can have very bad attitudes and are not recommended as a first rabbit for children. In other words they like to bite scratch and kick.

Mini Lops are not small rabbits they get to be about 6 pounds.

A great first rabbit for kids is the Mini Rex. they stay around 4 pounds. have great personalities, are easy to handle. they also have plush velvety coats. I always recommend them for kids. I also raise them and have been for 10 years.

Please when you decide on a breed do not go to a petsore for your rabbit. it will not be purbred and can have many health and social problems.

Find a reputable breeder preferably one who belongs to the ARBA. This way you will get a quality rabbit and the help and guidance of a breeder who knows rabbits.

Every weekend ARBA holds shows all across the US. You can find one in your area by going  to the website and clicking on the shows link.

    ARBA---  http://www.arba.net

If you live in Ohio I can help you get a Mini Rex rabbit

  3. A mini-lop.  The "lop" in the name refers to the fact that their ears hang down instead of sticking straight up.  They're very cute!

  4. Netherland dwarfs and Polish stay the smallest. Holland lops also stay small if you want a rabbit with floppy ears. Mini lops are not small rabbits.

  5. The Dwarf

  6. Netherland Dwarfs are one of the smallest breeds.  They usually are pretty friendly, but some of them can be mean.  About the smallest breed is the Britannia Petite, but they can be pretty aggressive so I wouldn't recommend them.

Polish are also another small breed and they look very much like a Netherland Dwarf.

I think the cutest small breed is the Holland Lop.

The most popular small breed is the Mini Rex.

Two new small breeds are the Mini Satin and Thrianta.

    Some other small breeds:

    Havana

    Florida White

    Himalayan

    Tan

    Dutch

    Jersey Wooly

    American Fuzzy Lop

All of those breeds should be small enough that a 12 year old girl could handle.  Even big breeds can be handled by a girl of that age if the child is taught how to handle the rabbit correctly.  I was handling Checkered Giants when I was about 9 and they are one of the hardest breeds to handle.

If she wants a big breed, get her a Flemish Giant.  I call them the gentle giants.  They are one of the biggest breeds, but they are also one of the gentlest breeds.

  7. Everyone gets mixed up with this, a DWARF rabbit is not small, look at the pic of a Dwarf Lop:

    A mini lop:

    A mini rex:

    A polish:

Please please remember a DWARF rabbit is not small they are actually quite big! That is why people buy them and they end up being dumped at my farm because people do not realise how big they grow! Please research your breed before you buy!

Hope this helps please email me if you need any more help.

  8. The smallest breed of rabbit is called a Netherland Dwarf rabbit. They only weigh a little over 2 pounds when they're fully mature. Good luck!

  9. Dwarf Bunnies/Rabbits
