What is the softest, best tasting wheat bread found in normal grocery stores?

Please no recipes, I know how to make my own whole wheat bread, but sometimes I just want to buy a loaf from Safeway or Albertsons for convenience.

I don't really care about cost, just whatever brand you think tastes the best and is whole wheat.

Thanks!

  1. Like Webcook, I like Sara Lee. The brand makes a "soft whole grain wheat" bread that has a similar taste and texture to soft white bread.

  2. my favorite "Sara Lee"

  3. I'm guessing you are not from OZ, but, we do have Safeway.  I buy the Ploughmans Four Seed Loaf, which does, unfortunately have a firmer top crust, otherwise I buy the Four Seed Safeway brand Sliced Loaf.  It is soft, with the same great flavor.

It keeps quite well at room temperature, and I have been told it freezes well, I have never frozen it.

  4. My boyfriend and I really enjoy Oatnut bread by Brownberry. It's pretty good and not that expensive at $ 2.50 per loaf. Try it...I really loved it too!
