  1. The best solution is to used organic fertilizer it will replenish the microsganism that help the soil to be more fertile. and eliminate the use of artificial manmade fertilizer because it will do more harm to the soil for the next generations.

  2. You've already started by calling it soil instead of dirt.

    Soil is not really respected and given it's due.  I'm not sure when we got in the habit of doing things like mowing a lawn and bagging up the leaves and cuttings, then paying money to fertilize.  At our home, we use an electric mower that mulches the clippings and leaves.  When leaves get crazy in the fall, we vacuum them up with a leaf shredder.  All material goes in the compost bin or directly on or in the garden.

    Composting is essential to keeping soil healthy, as is watering appropriately for your soil type, or modifying it to suit your needs by identifying your soil's pH and other soil conditions, such as OM.

    Even on a commercial scale, sustainable practices can be employed that keeps the soil in top condition without implementing many of the artificial techniques that are now employed.  Farmers are better educated, too, but sometimes short-term profit can be seductive.

    Use of nitrogen-fixing plants and crop rotation are other concepts that can be utilized to prevent soils from becoming depleted.

    When I have volunteers manually weeding at work, I always tell them to tap off as much of the soil as possible.  I explain how long it took for soil to come into being, and that we can respect that process by keeping it on site, where it does the most good.

  3. Planting ground cover and having deep rooted trees to raise the water table.   Use crop rotation methods leaving land fallow regularly.

  4. if it's for your garden, add compost, if it's soil in your area the topsoil may have stripped off and sold, also may have been over farmed

  5. To be able to answer your question, you must plant small trees or herbs because trees and small plants help the soil compress using their roots. The roots serve as the holders of soil that lessen the condition of soil erosions and the likes.

  6. soil carbon;

    yes adding compost/manure

    yes redeveloping soil ecosystems by not disturbing/poisoning the microorganisms

    permaculture

    direct drilling

    terra preta

    erosion;

    terracing

    hedges and ditches

    permaculture
