I have Ultimate 3D Chess on my phone and have been trying to figure out the first puzzle for about a week. The only hint the games gives is "Two-move problem. First attempt at a chess problem, 1888."

The pieces are laid out as follows:

White: A3, Bb2, Rc2, Kd8, E4, Rf7, Bg8, Qg2

Black: B6, C3, Kd6, Bd5, H6

It is White's turn to move.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  1. i have tried solving it- and i can't seem to figure it out.

let me know if you ever can please

  2. Looks like the solution is 1 Qd2.  Any king move (or 1... cb) is met by 2 Qxd5 mate.  And if 1... cd there's 2 Rd7.
