What is the sore on my rat's stomach?

THis morning, I noticed that my 8 month male rat had a round hard sore on his tummy which looked hard. This was covered by fur. When looking at this sore this evening, it came off, fur and all and has left a round penny size open wound on his tummy. I don't know what to do or to put on it if anything and as it is night time can't take him to the vet til tomorrow am, Any ideas welcome xx

It may be a tumor, but it's also possible that it's an abcess or a cyst. It's likely that he'll be OK, even if it is a tumor, so don't get too worried yet. He should be alright until tomorrow. Good job deciding to take him to the vet, they'll take good care of him. :]

well, get to your vet as soon as you can. i suggest keeping your rat comfortable and keep noises and other distractions in the room down so it doesn't get all stressed out. thats about it. make sure it is still eating and drinking too!!!!!

rats are prone to tumors and they usually chew on them, that what sounds like happened.  i would clean it with mild soap and warm water and get him into the vet as soon as you can.
