ok so we know that the maximum speed of light is 948154 m/s i'm using this speed as a bench mark as as the speed of light is not constant, ok so what is the speed of dark (not dark matter) as every one that i have asked have had a very very puzzled look on there face. so if you know then could you let me know, cheers

  1. well "The Dark", does not exist, it was just made to tell the absence of LIGHT, to express what we feel or see...

  2. Dark = - Light

Speed of Dark = - Speed of Light.

As speed is scalar (it has no direction like velocity; you wanted speed!)both speeds are same.

  3. The dark would travel at the same speed as light. Why? Because no information can travel faster than light. The change from light to dark could be used as a type of signal, and according to the laws we know today, a signal can't travel faster than light.

  4. quite clearly it is the reciprocal of the speed of light. Have you not seen the Lexx series? The Dark Zone encroaches steadily on the Light Universe but at considerably slower pace than the so called speed of light.

  5. On the one hand, if you cover up a light, the trailing edge of the light - the darkness - moves at the speed of light too.

But if you point your flashlight at the moon, and quickly zip it across the face of the Moon, the darkness that follows can move across the face of the Moon much faster than the speed of light.

This does not violate General Relativity.  You can't transmit information faster than light this way.

  6. I think your question should be re phrased as what is darkness. As you cannot know what the speed of darkness is without knowing what darkness is itself.

We know that light is just very highly charged packets of energy or photons.

So is darkness photons with no charge? or something else we cannot see with the naked eye?

And yeah your idea of the speed of light is wrong. It is as someone else said 300 million m/s or 300,000 km/s.

  7. Your question is very interesting. I have never thought of it in such your meticulous way before. Thanks for bringing it up.

Man, you are a curious, and smart person!

    W.

  8.   -"C"

  9. 11. The speed of dark is eleven.

  10. Darks are faster than lights. Just look at the olympics.

  11. darkness is not an entity, it is the absence of light, nothingness. Therefore, darkness will appear to move at the speed of light, however it is just the light moving away, not darkness moving. This can be slowed down by light pasng through objects.

Think what is the speed of the trail left behind a plane? obviously it is the same speed as the plane itself, should the plane crash and stop, the trail stops also =]

  12. there is no such thing as "dark" so your question by definition is meaningless

  13. When light moves in, dark moves out. When light moves out, dark moves in. There has never been an observed case of the light going away and the dark not arriving to fill the gap.

So dark moves at the same speed as light, 300 million metres per second. Your figure for the speed of light is wrong.

  14. This fact helps to prove that dark is indeed faster than light. If you were to stand in a lit room in front of a closed, dark closet, and slowly opened the closet door, you would see the light slowly enter the closet. But since dark is so fast, you would not be able to see the dark leave the closet.
