  1. It is the speed at which photons travel in a medium. The value is 3 x 10^8 m/s in vacuum but depends on the refractive index of a medium.

  2. depends on which units

    186000 miles/second

    3x10^8 meters/second

these two are the most common ones

use dimensional analysis if these are not the units that you're looking for.

  3. You would think that this is a very simple request for information. But the speed of light is one of the great mysteries of our universe, and defines our relationship to time itself.

According to Einstein's well proved Theory of Spacial Relativity, no matter how fast you were going,  if you measured the speed of light relative to your own speed, you would always find that it was the same speed. It makes no sense to our minds!.

Imagine! A train is going at 100 miles an hour. you measure it as it goes though the station. then your friend who is going 90 mph measure the speed, and finds that it is going 100 miles an hour faster than him. But that is the nature of our universe - but ONLY with the speed of light.

  4. it is 3*10^8

  5. 3 * 10^8 m/s
