  1. Most people pay 10% in restaurants, some 15% (if you're feeling rich), but check the bill as often service is already included, in which case you don't need to tip anymore.  I normally tip in cash rather than on credit card as then they don't get taxed on the tip.

Taxis you normally round it up to the nearest £1 or something sensible, but you don't have to as they're so expensive anyway.  Never stayed in a hotel - but wouldn't tip a bellboy more than £2 I don't think.  It's not like America.

  2. People would normally tip around 10% in restaurants - sometimes they add the service charge on to the bill but sometimes not.  But go on service - if it is good service, then tip them, but if the service was no good, or the food was no good - then dont feel like you have to tip.  Also, you can add a tip on if paying by card, but in some places these tips dont actually go to the staff, so its usually better to leave cash on the table.

For other things, tips aren't normally expected, so just do whatever you feel comfortable with (i.e. I would normally just say to the taxi driver to keep the change if it is a small amount, or to round the bill up to the nearest pound).

  3. forget the tips...

  4. 10- 15 % in bars restaurants hotel etc

People generally dont tip taxi drivers- not like the states.. but if you do feel like you can.

Also whatever you do... notice the service and tip accordingly.

TIPS also stands for To insure proper/polite service..

    Enjoy.

  5. as much as you want to give the brits are as concerned about tips as much as in the states
