What is the standard pool table size and how large of a room do you need to play on it comfortably?

  1. Most popular lately is 9X4.5 but any from 6ft to 10 ft I like at least 6-7 ft on all sides you could make do with a little less but it can get cramped in a hurry


  2. The standard size of a pool table is 9'x4.5', with a playing surface of 100"x50". This is what you will find in most pool halls and the size 99% of all professional tournaments are played on. 8'x4' is the most popular size for home tables. I don't exactly know why retailers don't encourage more buyers  to get full sized tables, but they don't. The typical bar table (coin operated) is 7'x3.5'. This is generally because of space restrictions, or to allow them to squeeze more tables in a smaller space.

    I have included a link to a room size chart. A 9' table requires a 13'8"x18' room, but if yours is slightly smaller you can still squeeze one in there if you really want.

  3. You got the answers on pool sizes, but to play comfortably, you need the space the length of a stick plus about a foot all around it so you are not cramped, or have dead spots.
