  1. Do you mean when the horses go into their slots after the bugle plays???  It has been a long time since I have been to a race track, but I think the bugle tune is called "Call to the Post"  or "Post Time."  It is about the same time as the betting windows close.

  2. That's what it is called.   "The Start."

They go to be saddled, they are lead to the paddock while others complete being saddled, and head toward the track.  The bugler is told they are ready and he announces the entrance to the track with the age-old bugle call.   The horses do a warm-up and  go to the Post where the starting gate is.

Once lined up orderly,  you'll hear  "They are at the start."

The gates open next...... so the caller says  "They are off !

  3. debut....it's 1st race of it's career

    from the gate.....the start

  4. Post Time is the start of the race. Then horses then get into the starting gate and the announcer usually says "And they're off!"

  5. Do you mean a horse's first race?  That would be a maiden race I believe.  Or do you mean the beginning of a race?  Post time?

  6. post time?

  7. The starting gate?

  8. Post time is the time the race is scheduled to start.
