What is the starting height for the crossbar at a High Jump competition?

Unless there is a set height that is dictated by the district or conference, then usually the coaches vote and decide on the opening height.

If there is no declared height, then the official will ask the jumpers and start at whatever height they wish to use.

It will be the lowest height in that case even if only one person wants to start there.

USATF and National Federation rules require the bar to be raised by increments of 5cm unless the jumpers agree to go up by more.
