What state is fire in -solid,liquid or gas?

  1. i asked my science teacher last year, they said it was a gas since all it is, is the burning of a fuel and oxygen. the particles move freely and seperate once burnt thus it is a gas


  2. Fire is not technically matter. In the same way that electricity is not matter, neither is fire. It is actually an energy state.

    A case could be made that a hot enough fire - and I'm talking, center of a nuclear explosion  hot - might cross the line into being plasma, rather the way lightning bolts are, but for the most part, fire is energy, not matter.

  3. Fire, in itself, does not have a state since it is an event/process which is occurring.  A state is something that objects embody.
