  1. I call mine Zack

  2. Depends on the boat.  Some call it a wheel and others call it the helm.  Both terms are correct.

  3. The helm refers to the area and device used to drive the boat.    It could be a tiller connected to a rudder, to an outboard or a wheel.   The term wheel signifies that the helmsman (person) physically turns a wheel to change boat course.  So the wheel is the wheel.    You wouldn't really call the wheel it self the helm, but you could say something like "take the helm" to have someone take your place steering.

  4. Helm

  5. I call it the wheel. The helm is a term describing a larger area than just the wheel or the tiller.

  6. It totally depends on the boat and personal preference. The steering wheel on a power boat is usually called a steering wheel. The steering wheel on a ship, yacht or sail boat is usually called the ship's wheel. The steering wheel on an inboard motor boat may be called the rudder. ( even though it's not actually the rudder)

Just depends on who it is doing the calling.

The helm is the complete area where the boat is steered from, including all controls, guages, steering wheel, etc.

  7. wheel like in the wheelhouse

  8. The Helm
