Going to Australia in February to March of 2007. The coast south of Melbourne, (Mornington Peninsula?). I was wondering what the surf is like there? Wave size, crowds, consitency, water temperature? Any help would be great.

  1. I surf myself, and I must say that in February the average swell size plus wave quality is quite good in Victoria. From the surf quality, I would recommend to go to the westside of Por Phillips Bay, that is in the region of Torquay. There you should try the famous Bells Beach, but my personal tip is to go a few kilometers eastwards from Bells Beach to a place called 13th Beach.

A few days before you want to go surfing, you should check out the following website, which can tell you the surf condition of many beaches around Australia, which also include Bells Beach and 13th Beach. You can also look at the Surf Web Cam for 13th Beach for a live experience before you go surfing!

    The website is:

I hope you will have a great time surfing around here!
