and im not even sure if there actually is an official border that distincts "west antarctica" from the rest.

West Antarctica is basically one massive ice sheet referred to as the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS). This ice sheet has become increasingly unstable due to global warming and is sometimes referred to as the 'Awakened Giant'.

The parts of West Antarctica not covered with ice (mostly Antarctic Peninsula) constitute a tundra-type biodiversity region known as Marielandia (after the Marie Byrd Land).
