Tranexamic acid.  It helps prevent bleeding.  It's often used during bloody surgeries to stop patients from bleeding out too much.

Edit:  And Helen's right about its use in preventing menstrual bleeding.

Neither, it's used to reduce menstrual blood flow (ie. for women with heavy, painful periods). It works!

Edit: I'd better be right darl, I use it! (in conjunction with Ponstan) - although it doesn't prevent bleeding, if only.

There are side-effects but it's better than the alternative. It's no fun being a girl sometimes, I tells yer.

Edit 2: "Doctor", the name is spelt absolutely correctly. That's what it says on my prescription anyway.
