  1. its the torre mayor located off of reforma

  2. is the torre mayor located at reforma av.

  3. Mexico's Torre Mayor building is the tallest at 230 meters or 754 feet, and is located in Mexico City  not far from Paseo de la Reforma.

  4. Alandh and other guys are right; it's the TORRE MAYOR and it's located right in Reforma Ave., between the Zona Rosa and Polanco/Anzures areas.... north west part of the city.

  5. La Torre Mayor is Mexico's tallest building.  It is located in Mexico City's most important avenue: Paseo de la Reforma.

A new tower, Torre Bicentenario, which is supposed to be inaugurated in 2010 (conmemorating Mexico's 200 years of independence from Spain), will be the tallest if construction does take place.

  6. Torre Mayor

    It's 225 meters tall.

  7. La Torre Mayor  with 225m (today's tallest building in Latin America); however, many other buildings are planed or under contruction in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey, and by 2011 many buildings will be much taller than La Torre Mayor, for example: Torrena with 375m that will be finished by 2008 in Guadlajara, Torre Bicentenario II with 350m that will be finished by 2010 to conmemorate the 200th aniversary of our independence,Torre Reforma in Mexico City with 260m that will be completed in 2011, Torre Monterrey  with 220m in the City of Monterrey that will be completed by 2009 and so on...

  8. I wouldn't be so sure about the Torre Bicentenario being a sure shot. The building looks like a coffin sinking into the ground and it isn't designed for a place like Mexico City. The city is on top of a bunch of caves that are falling down (thus "slurping" people and anything nearby hundreds of feet underground every now and then) and we have earthquakes.

They also wanted to build it in a very bad location with a clear-cut shot of the Los Pinos residence where the president lives where any sniper could shoot the president dead (that's a big no-no).

That area is full of traffic and it's a residence area for the most part, not a skyscraper area per se.

Plus they wanted to tear down a large part of the protected trees in the park because according to the official website of the tower "they are ugly".

It's also illegal for a building that tall to be built in that area. The law clearly states: no building in that area can be taller than 6 levels.

Oh, and to make things funny just for kicks, the company that wanted to build it is a close friend of the mayor of Mexico City. OBVIOUS conflict of interests.

The combinations of these problems made Ebrard "reconsider" building the tower elsewhere. Mexico City has a chaos of traffic and no subway lines that cross that part of the city. Dumping a building randomly where 3000 employees with 3000 cars in an area with no major highways (except the Periférico and we all know what the traffic is like there) would of been mayhem.

If Ebrard had given the green light against the law, next year there would be another super tower by another multi billionaire company owner and another and another and another and there would be so much traffic, we'd all have to live in our cars.

So far, any attempt of getting land for the tower have proven futile because nobody wants it built. It could possibly be built in Santa Fe (the place is infested with pointless towers and no roads, another tower won't make any difference) or perhaps in Atzcapotzalco though the area isn't exactly glamorous. I have a hunch that the tower will never be built and the Danhlos empire (who aren't even mexicans, they are Dutch so why would they even give a d**n about the Bicentenario?) lost several million dollars.

It could be positive for the city in the long run though. It will make other foreign billionaires who want to make other pointless mega buildings more cautious about choosing Mexico City. The traffic is so bad that there is just no more space for another car here.

It would be different if there were more foreign companies wanting to give money to expand the subway. That's surely something local chilangos will find useful instead of an ugly tower that will makes some Dutchmen even more rich and not improve mexicans per se.
