What is the tape beach volleyball players wear in Beijing?

I've been watching Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh in the Beijing Olympics compete, and on more than one occasion, they wear this colored tape on their stomachs or backs or shoulders. Does anyone know what this is or what it's for?

kerri walsh wears the one on her shoulder cuz shes healing from surgery... sometimes volleyball players where it if they slightly hurt a muscle or had previous troubles with that muscle and don't want to re hurt it!

Alot of people think its to cover a tattoo. But those people are wrong. Kerri Walsh did something to her her shoulder while playing volleyball and she had to have surgery. Dont be worried though. The surgery was like a year ago but she still has the tape to play at 100%

Kerri's shoulder has been operated on and maybe a little prone on injury.  On her shoulder is kinesio tape.  They are supposed to "correct muscle and joint function and improve circulation by applying compression to the skin."
