  1. i believe (never tried it) that baseball is the best, because you can't lose unless your team loses. payouts are not on spreads like other sports, but on odds payouts like horse racing. therefore, if the yankees play the royals, you don't need the yankees to win by a certain margin or the royals to lose by less than 9 or win. Imho, this is the big "catch" in most sports betting: even when your team wins, you can lose. Therefore, if you are pretty good at just picking the winner rather that how much they win by, you are best off on baseball. Horse racing, while also paying odds, is harder because you have to pick from a field. In baseball, it's one of two teams.

  2. there's none, it's all just a gamble

  3. Whatever you choose you are always going to be betting against somebody else who thinks he is smart enough to win, so if you want to win you have got to be smart enough to know your sport better than the other fellow. You can't just take any old sport off the rack and think you'll play that one. You have to know your business, as, while there well may be plenty of mugs betting, you might just be one of them. Two pieces of advice: never bet in a random game and steer clear of greyhounds, as there is too much of a random factor involved which means you cannot win in those ridiculously overround markets.

  4. Non never bet on anything the can talk. horses and dogs can't but their owners can.

  5. Tennis, its the sport where everything can happen

  6. Certain matchups in NBA and NHL lend for easy over/under bets.  Look at FT %, FG %, turnovers, average score for and against, and recent matchup scores for NBA.  For NHL, look at PP%, PK%, goalie stats, average points for and against, as well as recent matchup results, as well.  Be aware that some sites offer against the spread matchup stats for the previous 10 games played.  These often stretch over several seasons, and are generally not reliable.

  7. none, its a mugs game, i used to work in a bookies and nobody ever wins

  8. I like that question, my personal opinion is that betting on football especially NFL is the most reliable sport to bet on... Horses, Tennis and soccer to me are too hard to predict since anything can happen.  Also I have made much more money by betting on NFL games that any other sport.

Another way to increase to chances of winning is by taking advantage of the bonus some of the sportsbooks offers you.

  9. The answer to your question is pro boxing.

All of the other sports and games mentioned have too much or a random element in them.  For example, a football game can be won or lost because of a fumble or a dropped pass.

For the most part, boxing doesn't have any randomness, at least not like the other games.

When a professional boxer is heavily favored, he rarely ever loses.

  10. For me, it's NBA basketball totals.  I purely bet on 'OVER' plays and I have a great winning percentage.  I'm 4-1 in the playoffs already and there's another winner on tonight's board.

I would disagree with the answerer that chose MLB baseball.  There are so many variables...weather, stadium, bullpen, starters, lefty vs. righty, etc.  It is NOT a sport for amateurs to cap.  I love to cap baseball, but it far from the easiest!

  11. chess

  12. It is generally agreed among professional handicappers that the easiest games to handicap are NCAA football totals.

I've made a living betting on sports for 18 years and I'd have to agree with the consensus. You especially want to focus on totals for games that will not be on TV and which involve teams that are fairly insignificant.

There has been some discussion recently about Mixed Martial Arts Fighting being very soft and easy to beat. Unfortunately I know nothing about the sport so can't confirm or deny this. It makes sense though that a new sport would have bad lines that could be exploited.

Edit: The problem with betting on boxing is that despite the fact that a heavily favoured fighter rarely loses you also don't win much. You have to risk a large amount of money to win quite a small amount. In boxing it is very easy to get 4 wins and then 1 loss is all it takes to put you in a negative.

  13. Personally, I think baseball is easiest.  I feel that it is the easiest for an amature to handicap because so much of the outcome of the game relies on the starting pitcher-- especially the starting pitcher on a good offensive team.

I know it is not the most popular sport to bet, but that too is an advantage in most cases because the professional handicappers don't give it as much action so the lines don't change as drastically.
