112.5 g of iron (III) oxide reacts with 56.5 g of carbon monoxide.

Fe2O3 + 3CO = 2 Fe + 3 CO2

1. determine the number of iron atoms produced.

2. determine the theoretical yield of iron in grams.

I got 50.0416 for the yield but later in the question it says the actual yield is 73.67 which doesnt make sense. just want to see if im doing something wrong

  1. Moles Fe2O3 = 112.5 g /159.694 g/mol = 0.704

    Moles CO = 56.5 g / 28.0 g/mol =2.02

    CO is the limiting reactant ( 0.704 x 3 = 2.11 moles CO are needed)

    the ratio between CO and Fe is 2 : 3

    Moles Fe = 2.02 x 2 / 3 = 1.35

    Atoms = 1.35 x 6.02 x 10^23 = 8.13 x 10^23

    Mass Fe = 1.35 mol x 55.847 g/mol = 75.39 g
