  1. Use the relation

    t = P * D / 2 * f * J

    Height is irrelevant to the head thickness of the plate thickness, but the bottom plates will have to consider the pressure head.

    Here, t = Thickness of the plate

    P = Internal Operating Pressure (Design pressure to be taken 1.1 times the Operating Pressure)

    f = Permissible Stress of the Material of Construction (Mild Steel, SS and other common MOCs have between 1000 -1800 kg/cm^2, this value is usually provided by the manufacturers of the plates)

    J = Joint Efficiency (1.0 for Class A type, 0.85 for Class B, 0.5 - 0.75 for Class C types)

    D = Mean Vessel Diameter

    If you are going to use Internal Diameter the relation becomes

    t = P * Di / 2 * f * J - P

    Here Di = Internal Vessel Diameter

    If you are going to use external Diameter

    t = P * Do / 2 * f * J + P

    Here Do = Outside Diameter of vessel

    If you can specify what heads you plan to use I can provide specific relations for spherical, torispherical, elliptical or hemispherical formed heads. The above relation is assuming that you will use a flat head.

  2. go for a 40mm base plate
