I know that they have identified many of the layers of the geologic column in the Grand Canyon such as The Cambrian Layer, The Devonian Layer, etc. and I am trying to find the thickness of those layers.

  1. They vary from a few inches to hundreds of feet

    For example, one layer here

is stated to form cliffs 400 feet tall.  Layers in rough thickness in diagram at bottom

    This pdf gives layer thickness

  2. You need to find stuff on an area of research called stratigraphy.  What'll you discover is the language can seem rather baffling.  Actual geologists don't tend to write about something called "the geologic column", and refer to formations with local names.  A phrase such as "Cambrian Layer" is also a bit unfortunate.  There may be various layers involved from any particular geological age.
