  1. + It is obtained by scoring a goal and the players who are on the ice, get a +

    -  It is obtained if the opponent scores a goal. The opposing team's players on the ice will get a -.


  2. The way it works is if you're on the ice when your team scores a goal, you get a + and if your on the team when your team gives up a goal, you get a -.  Its a good indicator of how well balanced a player is (heavily offensive or defensive players tend to have ones closer to 0 or negative, while the best balanced ones are positive.)

  3. if you are on the ice when your team scores, you get a +. If you are on the ice when the opposing team scores, you get a -.

    a plus is scored if you are on the ice when your team scores an even strength or a shorthanded goal.

    a minus is scored when you are on the ice when the opposite team scores an even strength or shorthanded goal

    powerplay goals do not count but shorthanded goals do!

    if the other lineup scores you get a -

    this does not count on the power play or Penaty kill!

    you do not need a assist or to score
