  1. I'm not sure that ships have a 'black box' (flight data recorder on a plane).   I'm not aware of voice recording on the bridge, but since big ships are run by computer there would be a record of speed and course change inputs, etc.   Unless you mean a military ship -- then everything gets recorded!

  3. It is called a Voyage Data Recorder (VDR). They are already being used in the UK on roll-on, roll-off ferries built after 1 July 2002.  But like everything else of this nature, other Nations are "looking into the feasibility" of installing VDRs on newer commercial and passenger vessels. Many seamen believe they are essential to safety, just like the black box on planes.

  4. No Idea,but they are thinking to put a sort of black box in normal cars also in future so Police will be able to control any moment and will know your all privies moments.
