What is the thing that slides down in Washington DC during the New Year's Countdown? Like, the Georgia one is a peach

As Useful points out, there's no longer a central New Year's Eve celebration, at least to the best of my knowledge.  So, nothing sliding down and no band.

Well it used to be a postage stamp that was dropped from the Post Office Pavilion where the celebration was held.  I think, its been years since they've done it though!

You're probably think of NYC's crystal bulb. There is no official New Year's celebration in DC.
