  1. WA would be the wealthiest with all the mining and exporting, followed by NSW (steel works, toursim, trade) then Queensland (small quantity mining, big tourism). My guess would be Victoria, purely because the don't recieve the bulk of tourism and don't export in great numbers.

  2. Victoria

  3. According to the latest release of "Australian Economic Indicators" by th Australian Bureau of Statistics on page 130, as far as wage rates are concerned the order of best to worse are ACT, WA, NSW, NT, QLD, Vic, SA, TAS

So your answer is: Victoria is the 3rd poorest state, as far as individual wages are concerned.

If you look at the ‘net fiscal subsidy’ provided by each State by comparing the State of origin of all revenues received by the Australian Government (based on the location of economic activities generating these revenues) against the distribution across States of benefits generated by Australian Government spending (based on the location of the recipients of benefits). then comparing the "Cross-Subsidies Between States" the order changes slightly:

According to the only data I could find (from 1996 WA State Treasury study) WA is best net contributer, then NSW, and Victoria, then net receivers QLD, SA, and TAS.

So your answer is Queensland as the 3rd worst, if your looking at overall State. (not the individuals, but the State itself).

  4. Just guessing - NSW
