I have stomach upset and bad gastric pain after taking Amoxicillin

  1. You have to tell the doctor.  That is one of the side effects of Amoxicillin.  Stop taking it and call him as soon as his office opens, he will prescribe something else.  I too had a total knee replacement 4 yrs ago.  My MD had me on the antibiotic for 10 days and if I had a reaction like you're having, I would have stopped taking it and called him.  Fortunately, an antibiotic is probably one of the only meds you can just stop taking.  Call your pharmacist and tell him,  He will tell you the same thing.  They are a good source of this type of info.  Hope you feel better and do your exercises. lol.  I feel for you.


  2.     It depends on how long it takes your body to heal.  The doctor will not discontinue it until she is certain you no longer need it.  You can always ask that they switch you to a different antibiotic.
