  1. its already started and it will be till morning 4.00AM.....

  2. New Delhi: The earth's shadow will sweep past the moon late tonight turning a shining full moon into a dim red one and finally blackening it out of view.

There will be a partial lunar eclipse occurring late in the night, wherein about 80 % of the moon will be seen to be eclipsed.

All of India can witness the eclipse which is also visible from South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.

The partial phase of the eclipse will begin at 1:06:07 am and end at 4:14:16 am tomorrow morning. The greatest eclipse will be at 2:40:09 am when about 80% of the moon will be seen to be eclipsed.

The penumbral part of the eclipse will begin at about four minutes before midnight and is not easily discernible.

The awesome spectacle of the moon vanishing partially will be visible from all over India. However, Delhi will be lucky as the national capital witnesses clear skies today.

"As there are clear skies, it seems that we all can witness a full event," said Anirudh, Educator, Nehru Planetarium.

However, in UP and several other parts of the country swirling monsoon clouds and rains can turn out a spoilsport for avid star gazers.

Staff members of the planetarium and the amateur astronomers of Delhi will be observing the eclipse and attempting to measure the brightness changes on the Moon, through images taken before and after the eclipse, and throughout the penumbral and the partial phases of the eclipse.

"It is safe to watch the lunar eclipse with naked eyes. It is not harmful to the eyes as such,"

  3. About 1AM to 4-10 AM.
