  1. In restaurants I'd usually tip 10-20% for good service.  If the service isn't much good I don't leave a tip.  We don't tip in bars or pubs here thank God, but if there's table service in a hotel bar or more upmarket bar you might get better service if you do.

  2. In Ireland, does an actual policy exist?

I'm not so sure. Its not something expected anyway..

  3. theres no policy you just tip them what you like!!!! its not like america!!

  4. 12-15% is expected (in restaraunts/hotels) this is assuming there is no service charge

    more for excellent serice

    for taxis/lounge staff etc.....10%

it isn't a requirement to tip barman/cafes etc

Also, dont make the mistake of thinking they dont "deserve" a tip

Wages are very high in Ireland....but at the same time, the cost of livng is crazy!

    ;)

  5. Tipping is not a big thing over here like it is in the USA.

The only time I ever tip (or have known anyone else to tip for that matter) is waiting staff in restaurants (or in bars if they are bringing your drinks to your table) and the tip is generally 10% of the bill.

I would also tip my hairdresser.

I have never heard of anyone tipping a taxi driver or a B&B
