  1. You don't tip anyone on the ship.  You just pay $10/day per person and that money will be divided up and given to each member of the crew.  And room service is free!

  2. They will automatically charge you $10/per person per day at the end of your cruise.  So you will have to pay this no matter what.  This means you don't have to tip your waiters at meals, but if you want to buy drinks or have spa service, you still need to tip them (spa service tip is automatic 15%)

  3. I went on the Spirit in June...we got room service and didnt tip once!  This is a rare occasion that they didnt even look for a tip.  They simply knocked on the door put the food down and before you could if you wanted to they are out again.  We were going to the first time but it came quicker so we didnt have the money out and we couldnt get it in time.  It was so wierd to not even have them look for it.  They known that they are makign good money on the 10$ a day/guest that they are recieving so they dont bug you for extra.  Truth be told we onyl tipped our room stewards extra (an extra total of 30$ for the 8 day cruise), otherwise we let everyone else get the 10$ a day gratuity.  Since its freestyle cruising it would be both foolish and expensive to tip everyone every night (thats why the automatic gratuity is great).

  4. You will be charged $10 per day for tips (unless you are in a suite, which is more).  This does not include room service.

Most people tip $1 to $2 if they order room service.  Many just go to the buffet, pick up what they want, and bring it back to their cabin for free.
