If you don't know what I'm talking about click the link and on the picture I'm referring to the top beige/khaki colored top part of the boat that you can zip and unzip to open the "windows". What is the name of this part of the boat?

  1. All WRONG !

Strictly speaking, the Very Top cover is the BIMINI. Used together with the removable sides and front panels you now have a complete assembly called a "Cockpit Enclosure"

To be sure though, as a stand alone piece...it is the Bimini.

  2. cockpit

  3. It's called a dodger.

  4. Gotta go with Boatin in VA.

    Cockpit enclosure.

  5. that captain would be your "cockpit enclosure"

and if "Miller Time" is your vessel she's a beauty!

SIDE NOTE: Dave M hit the answer right in his post as it is indeed a bimini top. Once fully enclosed it is as noted here a "cockpit enclosure."

  6. The top part of the enclosure is called a bimini top if it is made of canvas.  If it is fiberglass or other stiff material it is called a hardtop.  If it has a soft enclosure made of what is called eisenglass then it is a bridge enclosure.  It would only be a cockpit enclosure if it covers the cockpit of the boat.
