  1. yourself, your bike, water, and maybe a patch kit in case of a flat. you shouldn't need much else as 4 miles shouldn't take too long, even through rough terrain. if you want to go super slow you could bring a little snack, like powerbar or something.

    Have fun!

  2. Water, flat repair kit. Maybe a snack if you plan on stopping for a break. 4 miles isn't very long, especially on a bike, so you shouldn't have any problems running out of resources.

  3. 1) Spare tube, quicker than patching and doesn't weigh that much

    2) patch kit for when you get a second hole

    3) frame pump

    4) Fluids to drink

    5) Cell phone if service is available - covers the unexpected

  4. Water, spare tube, first aid kit, cell phone, snack.

  5. 1. Bike

    2. Helmet

    3. Gloves

That should be it for a ride that short.  I wouldn't bother with anything else.   Repairs would take longer than a 4 mile run back to the car, so I'd leave the repair kit there.
