My wife and I are thinking of getting a boat and I am trying to figure out how much weight i can pull with my truck all of the specs that are relevant should be below please help me out. Thanks

Details of the truck

POWER PACK PLUS:

VORTEC 5.3L V8 W/ACTIVE FUEL

MANAGEMENT

LOCKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL

TRAILERING PACKAGE

ALUMINUM WHEELS

REAR AXLE - 3.73 RATIO

OFF ROAD SUSPENSION PACKAGE:

OFF ROAD SKID PLATES

From reading the manual it says that i can pull 7000 lbs or so but the hitch says different.

From what i have read on the hitch it says 5000 lbs with a tongue weight of 600 lbs or with a weight distribution 10000 lbs with a tongue weight of 1000 lbs (the numbers are a little rough as i am doing it from memory).

  1. I would get the weight of the boat in questions- or the weight of the one you want and call the home office of the manufacturer. You could also call a boat shop/desler and they could help better.

The manual weight is going to be how much the truck can handle without damage to the tansmission or other parts. I would go with the lesser amount.

  2. If the manual says 7,000 lbs and the hitch says 5,000 lbs then you take the lower one because its rated for less.

So 5,000 lbs it is.  If you are still unsure call the dealer ask to for sure.

the700 - Why would the boat company have any idea what his truck can pull?  They make boats not trucks.
