  1. A traditional German meal might consist of cooked red cabbage, potato dumplings, and Saurbraten. Or spaetzle.

    Definitely a good German beer, and saurkraut and bratwurst. And of course Hasenpfeffer, which is a rabbit stew yummm all of it!

    (Wiener)schnitzel is actually Austrian. The closest variant you might find in Germany is the Jaegerschnitzel

  4. I normally think of sauerbraten, with gingersnap gravy, and spaetzle, with red cabbage ... and strudel for dessert ....  German food is wonderful!  Filling, hearty food that's perfect in cold winter months......

    A fried and subsequently pickled whole herring accompanied by crisply fried potato slices and onion rings.
