  1. Carnations, lilies, and gladiolas. I work in a flower shop. In fact, we use glads exclusively for funeral work and don't put them in any other arrangement unless specially requested by the customer.

  8. It depends. A lot of the time, roses (red or white) tend to be used in funerals. Although, sometimes if the deceased has requested a specific flower, or you are aware of their preferences, these can be used as proper substitutes. Obviously, nothing fancy with a lot of flare and color - a funeral is a time of mourning, and thus these types of flowers would be inappropriate.
