  1. The Dragon.

  2. Two very well known characters from calligraphy, often used in Chinese culture are those for happiness and for long life.  You might  do a piece integrating them along with the animals mentioned or with the tiger and phoenix, also popular in the tradition.

And, take a look at my "picture", the Taoist yin-yang with dragons --pretty traditional --perhaps another idea for you.

  3. I would stay away from any animal characters of the Chinese zodiac because this symbol you're looking for is for the ENTIRE family and shouldn't represent a specific lunar year of when a person was born.  http://www.chinesezodiac.com/signs.php

Here's a symbol of the Five Fortunes Surround Longevity http://www.whats-your-sign.com/images/ch...  Five bats grouped together around longevity to represent Wealth, Health, Longevity, Love, and Virtue. The bats are red to ward off evil.

  4. ying-yang

    grain of rice

    those big rice patty hats

    squinty eyes

    the color red

    8

    other stupid c**p

    choose some
