What is the treatment of Episiotomy specially in case of more serious lacerations (third- or fourth-degree)? Even when stitches has done twice for mistake, becasue first time stitches has some loose and then doctors remove it and done it again, which cause more extra pain for the patient. Is this physical loss completely curable and the patient can get normal life like before? How long time need to survive and what should we do?

  1. I've never heard of them having to do it again. Was it your dr. that stitched you up? I would be pissed and give them a piece of my mind. I would have it looked at by another dr now, to make sure it was done correct the second time. If it was it should hill (I think in about 6 weeks) and you should be able to have a normal s*x life after.

  2. Uhm, I would say ask an experience OBGYN, but prolly not the one that had to put the stitches in twice. That is weird, I've never heard of any woman having to deal with that twice; once is bad enough. It made me hurt just thinkin about it. Call a good doctor and ask him/her.

  3. After a woman has an episiotomy or laceration and it has been repaired then she is usually prescribed pain medication, sometimes topical spray, and sitz baths (warm water soaks).  Keep the area very clean with warm water squirted over the area after using the bathroom.  Immediately after episiotomy is repaired we would put on ice to reduce swelling but that is only really effective the first few hours following repair.  Yes the perineum can heal and be close to what it was before.  It depends on the severity of the laceration or episiotomy  but it usually takes 6 weeks to completely heal.
