What is the truth about earwigs?

i saw a few earwigs around and i read a bunch of stuff on the internet and the info was mixed up. some said that the myth that they can eat your eardrum or lay egss in your rain is true others didnt. so whats the truth about earwigs because i asked a doctor and she didnt know

The truth about earwigs is that they don't venture into your ears any more than other insects.  And how often is that?  They certainly do not eat eardrums, lay eggs in, or eat, or control your brain.

That used to be one of my fears as well, so I kept researching it.  Apparently there is a type of earwig found in Africa that will do that, but it doesn't live anywhere else.  All the other types of earwigs don't actually go into your ear and if for some reason they did, they don't eat anything in your ear nor do they lay eggs in there.
