  1. Actually, more than what the previous respondent indicated.

The average tuition and fees for an NYU student this year is estimated at $35,283, and the approximate cost of room and board is $11,780, for a grand total of $47,063. This may not include your costs of books, and it certainly doesn't include the high costs of living in New York City.

NYU remains, as always, one of the four or five most expensive universities in the United States to attend.

Interestingly, a number of the OTHER most expensive schools (Stanford and Yale amongst them) have recently announced major modifications to their tuition programs. Both schools now pick up the full costs of all students whose parents don't earn in excess of a certain amount ($60,000 at Yale, for example), and charge only a small percentage of the costs to those students whose parents fall between other, higher income ranges.

NYU really IS one of the most expensive college options.

  2. close to 40k.

also owning a car in the city is just impossible.

also, you probably want to live off campus for cheap room and board, since they charge close to 20k for that.

you can get a studio or shared room for about 800-2000 depending on location. remember the closer to campus, the higher the rent.
