What is the type of bush that has spikey leaves?

They are about 3 feet tall. Very painful to walk through. Have usually 3 little spikes near the tip...andbody??

I need the actual name for a school project...

  1. It may be a barberry bush.They usually have reddish leaves (reddish berries in the fall) and of course thorns. I enclosed a couple of sites to see the bush and the thorns. They belong to the genus Berberis with numerous species available.
