  2. Fish and chips!!!!!

  3. Jellied eels is a signature dish in London. More general food includes fish and chips, pie and peas, bubble and squeak, traditional Sunday roasts. Fave dish at the moment though is curry.

  4. If it is home cooked - roast beef with yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings.

A good curry can be found in most towns/cities.  In London there is some great Carribean food around the Clerkenwell area.

I'm not really sure that we have a specific food that is really good just fresh produce lovingly prepared will give a good meal in any country.

  5. I have to agree with  Timsdad.... Fish and Chips, Roast and trimmings, and Curry.

Fish & Chips is Britains most well known food, especially sitting eating them on Sea Front.....Oooh...lovely

  6. Fish and chips or home made apple pie

  7. In London these days you can get pretty much any type of cuisine and at a very good standard.

Also the range of local cheeses has increased in style and production, so these are very good.

The quality of take away food varies and many of the decent fish and chip shops have been ruined by the price of fish being pushed up and by the culture of burgers and chicken. Sub standard french fries not made from freshly chipped  potatos are all to common.

Curries from all nations are still high on the list.

The variety of fresh veg you can buy now in the supermarket and smaller specialist shops is limitless.

  8. Chips, Ale, Beef

  9. fish n chips @ the sea side

  10. With a wife like mine - stick to McDonalds

  11. As well as Roast and Fish & Chips, we do VERY good breakfasts. Egg, bacon, sausage, toast, tomatoes, kippers, kidneys and black pudding. We also have dishes like kedgeree.

Napoleon once said 'to eat well in Britain, you should eat breakfast.'

  12. Yer canna wack a leak pudding with lashings of gravy!

  13. Fish, chips AND mushy peas.

  14. YOU could have

    1/ fish & chips

2/ a roast with all the trimmings

    3/ a curry

  15. I agree with the others about home made roast and yorkshire pudding and gravy, also never had better curry than when in London. Chicken Tikka Masala,  Tandoori chicken, Vindaloo, all excellent.  What I also do miss are the little kebob shops, can't find anything similar to those lamb or chicken kebobs sliced right of the skewer here in the US.

  16. Food that is sourced locally and comes itself from accredited sources and in season. eg lamb, beef, salmon, shellfish, asparagus, potatoes, strawberries, tomatoes etc. grown and reared responsibly not necessarily organically and originating in various places in the UK. From these ingredients, treated with care and respect, you can have a cuisine to rival any in the world!

  17. good old lancashire hotpot
