    Rafting is the correct term. On the 4th of July we will be rafted together on my lake, as with thousands of other lakes around the country.

  8. As a US Merchant Marine Captain, I can tell you with all confidence that the proper term is "the vessels are rafting off each other."

    They will have large fenders between them referred to as "Camels" which will protect them from damage due to movement.
