How does a unique feature of the mandible set it apart from other facial bones?

I would think the mandible is different for one because it works on a hinge joint,  with the upper jaw.    It also is a bone that hold lots of other bones in place (teeth).    It also has a lot of muscles connected to it that makes chewing and talking possible.   It is also a bone that can be refitted by surgery if it grows improperly too big.    It is also a bone that can be encouraged to grow faster by some orthodontic appliances.
