Is this supposed to be a Major tropical storm? Because last time i heard most residents were going to stay and wait it out. Now i am hearing that is is mandatory everyone leaves. How bad do they expect Gustav to be? And where are most people going when leaving town? Thank you :)

  1. I've heard it's going to hit the New Orleans. At least that's most people's guess. Currently it's a cat. 3 hurricane.

I hope people actually take their pets with them this time. :/

  3. New Orleans is being evacuated now.

  4. Category 2 off the coast of Cuba.

  5. Gustav did intensify significantly overnight and is currently has sustained winds near 120 mph.  You can see the latest on Gustav here: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml?#GUS...

It should (hopefully) weaken some as it approaches the coast late Monday but likely will still be strong.

  6. Here's a great website for tracking the storms

  7. You can see the projected path of the storm, and find links to local TV and newspaper coverage, live streaming webcams in the affected areas, preparation guides, plus links to the National Hurricane Center coverage of the storm on http://www.USAMediaGuide.com

  8. Yes this will be a major hurricane. As of today it has strengthened to a Cat 4, almost Cat 5. The winds are at 150 mph, when the winds get to 155 or more it will become at Cat 5. The millibars are also going town tremendously, causing a more dangerous storm. And the worse of all.... it still has not reached the extreme warm water of the gulf. I would not stay.. this storm may be devastating.
