When I searched the population in Barcelona, Spain, I got the 'City Population' and the 'Urban Population'. I don't want my portfolio on Barcelona to have unexplained information. Can someone tell what the Urban Area is?

  1. NOT the city population

  2. The larger number would be the metropolitan population, I think.  As opposed to the population of people living inside the proper city limits.

    I´m pretty sure.

    This is from Wikipedia:

According to Barcelona's City Council, Barcelona's population as of 2006-06-01 was 1,673,075 people,[20] while the population of the Metropolitan Area was 3,161,081. It is the central nucleus of the Urban Region of Barcelona, which relies on a population of 5,327,872 and covers an area of 4,268 km² (1,648 sq mi).

In this paragraph, the 1.7 million is the city of Barcelona,

the 3.2 million is the Metropolitan area, and the 5.3 million is the REGION of Barcelona, or something comperable to the county in the US.
